Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve Trail
A mesmerizing trail which is in a loop and takes you through beautiful ponds, lakes, streams and forests. Among the various trails near Princeton, NJ Mountain Lakes Nature Trail was always my very first pick filled with a wide variety of wildlife, wet areas with flat surfaces and hills too. It almost took me 48 mins to complete the whole journey and it was extremely fun to conquer this stunning trail.

Trolley Track, Founder’s Walk, River’s Edge and Far Trail Loop
I was able to complete the whole trail within an hour of my journey and the trail can be a bit unmarked in points but still you may pass through effortlessly. The trails can be muddy at spots and the swinging bridge is the best part of it. There can be obstructions during your hike but still the breathtaking surroundings compensates everything. Also, the trail is known for George Washington’s journey in it.

Delaware and Raritan Canal Trail
The best point to point trail I’ve been to and one of the best walking trails near Princeton, NJ. This multi-use trail runs between Frenchtown, New Jersey and New Brunswick and follows the canal built in the early 1830s. However, you may also pass through the former Belvidere Delaware Railroad and view the beauty of the surrounding nature.

The trail offers the views of picturesque rivers, abundant wildlife, blossom trees, and even some beautiful flowers. Moreover, the trail passes through small bridges over creeks, Province Line Road and gives off some of the most attractive walks ever, do give it a try.

Baldpate Mountain -Ted Stiles Preserve
I love this trail for its scenic beauty and the trails which are perfect for both biking as well as hiking. There are a lot of hills, rocks and roots here and there in the trails but since it is a natural path it just increases the charm of it. The trails are a bit rugged, wet and muddy and none of the trails are paved too so the trails can be challenging for beginners. Also, it offers amazing views of the Delaware River, historic farmlands and the Philadelphia skyline.

Mercer County Park (East and West) Trails
This is a trail which is perfect for beginners to enjoy their biking journey through nature’s playground and explore the various beautiful attractions all around. My children loved biking on this trail as it was really beginner friendly because it has paved paths and also simple natural paths too. Plus it’s a great exercise for anyone.

Lawrence Hopewell Trail: Mercer Meadows Segment
It is definitely one of the longest trails I’ve been to and we visited this trail as a family as it is perfect for families. The trail had clean and large paths which were mixed with green and gravel that travels through woods and open fields and it made the travel much easier for us. Fishing was also a popular activity in this trail so we had the opportunity to go fishing in between and it was really amazing.

Creek, Twisty and Blackwells Trail Loop
A smooth and curvy trail which swings along a majestic stream and offers some of the best sceneries along the way. This trail almost took me 5 hours to complete because it was moderately challenging for me. I would say the best time to visit the trail would be from April to October as I’ve visited during these months and it was really a unique experience.
